A multi-platform solution for malls in a modern world.
Find what you want, and get it.
myMALL is a design solution that marries the technologies of digital signage and mobile phones. The solution aims to simplify the experiences of navigating the mall using kiosks or phones as wayfinders, and finding status information/picking up your ordered items. Both the kiosk and mobile applications provide store information and images and allow for a quick 'Get Me Here' option for wayfinding navigation (if using kiosk, it is passed to your mobile device). While the mobile application allows for live tracking of order status as well, to ensure that you show up to your stores at the right times.
When designing this solution I felt it was important to keep the experience unified between the mobile and kiosk layouts. If a user went from using the kiosk to their mobile devices I wanted it to feel like they took the kiosk with them. The categories and layout of shop information are similar between the two applications with the 'Order Status' being the unique experience on mobile, allowing a user to see a list of ordered items and their stores. Branded color coding allows for users to tell quickly what store purchases are ready, and what individual items are ready as well.
The final really unique thing about the application is that it communicates user metadata back to the kiosks for a better advertising experience. The kiosks read the metadata and play non-intrusive ads that are tailored to the bystanders purchases (think Nike ad if you purchased golf balls recently, or Purina if you've been to Petco a lot). The key here is to take the user data and put it towards something that is relevant for the user and encourages more purchases and a happier customer.
