A tribute to a fellow designer and artist.

Another friend Emilio seemed like a good subject for a digital illustration portrait. Emilio is a colorful character, full of life, laughter, and always searching for new experiences so I really wanted the illustration to capture some of his essence. I think overall I did a good job, the colors used really make the design pop and the overall layout of Emilio feels a bit 'mischievous' so I think I was able to hit the mark.

With the illustration specifically, it was interesting to work with both the sunglasses texture and the glowsticks to try and give them a texture and style similar to other illustrations, but have them stand out enough with their own unique feeling. This is the only illustration in which an 'outer glow' is intentionally used to break the trend of other strictly vector based illustrations in my portfolio.

It's been a while since I've been able to catch up with Emilio, but wherever he is, I imagine he has a glowstick close by.
